On Twitch, we usually get light entertainment in the form of gaming content, but now the US politician Bernie Sanders joined the most famous Twitch streamers. The 83-year-old learned what a VTuber is, personally taught by a Catboy.
Why did Bernie Sanders stream on Twitch? Even though Bernie Sanders is not part of this US election, he still remains politically active. To support the candidate Kamala Harris in the campaign, the 83-year-old agreed to stream with Twitch streamers Pokimane, Valkyrae, and Sykkuno.
Reasons why Bernie Sanders did not stream with the Twitch streamer Asmongold can be found in this video:
VTuber explains to Bernie Sanders why he is only seen as an anime character
What was the content of the stream? Bernie Sanders answered questions about the upcoming US election and current political topics during the stream. The Twitch streamers had the opportunity to bring their own questions as well as questions from their community.
What was the highlight? However, the political questions quickly took a back seat when VTuber Sykkuno asked Bernie Sanders if he knew what a VTuber is. When his question went unanswered, he asked: “Have you ever heard of a VTuber?”
Bernie Sanders said no, and Sykkuno was excited that he was the first and thanked the politician for supporting VTubers. The 83-year-old then told him that he “looks very good.”

How did the community react? On X, the community found it funny to see that Bernie Sanders, an older politician, actually has points of contact with the modern internet topics of Generation Z. One X user posted:
What else happened in the stream? After Bernie Sanders left the discussion, the Twitch streamers continued discussing political topics. For an extended discourse, additional guests were invited, such as YouTuber Hank Green or businessman Mark Cuban.
This is not the only somewhat strange stream in which Twitch streamer Pokimane has appeared recently. Her time was auctioned as a kind of “date” within a charity auction. In fact, someone paid $60,000 to be able to play video games with the Twitch streamer.
