The progression servers known as Prime of the MMORPG Rift are so popular that their lifespan has now been extended. This is announced by publisher Trion Worlds.
Apparently, MMORPG fans thirst for a classic player experience – including a subscription. And players get this with the Prime servers in Rift. This server essentially functions as one would expect from the earlier times at the launch of a new MMORPG: You start from the bottom and slowly work your way through the content that is gradually expanded.
At the beginning, you are not faced with a huge mountain of content and are not discouraged by many veteran players who have already achieved everything.

During a live stream about the state of the MMO, the developers at Trion Worlds explained that the Prime server is very well received by the players and that the developers themselves are having a lot of fun with it. The team is currently preparing raids like Greenscale and River of Souls. Greenscale will be introduced on April 25 and will offer individual loot for the participants.
But the team also does not neglect the regular live servers:
- The team will be expanded to better support the live servers
- The developers are currently working on the next major update but do not want to reveal anything about it yet
- The content of the update Comet of Ahnket is not yet finished, and players can expect more content here
- Greenscale will not be released simultaneously on the live servers and the Prime server
- There will be updates to the guild system, but these will take a while
- Currently, there are no plans for new “Souls”, as the current balancing needs to be optimized first
- In 2018, the team aims to achieve three major content milestones
For fans of the Prime servers, it is particularly interesting that Trion World has now reduced the speed at which new content is coming on the Vigil server. Therefore, the server will run longer than originally planned. Many fans had criticized that while they liked a subscription server, they found the time span of “1 year minimum” to be too short.
The Prime servers in Rift are currently doing quite well.
