In other words: If the killer falls down rather late while carrying – for instance, at the entrance to the dangerous basement – the survivor is immediately freed. In such cases, the perk still pays off and can save one or another life.
What do you think about this perk change? A sensible step in the right direction? Or was the perk just right before and is now too weak?
A perk of the survivors in Dead by Daylight has turned out to be “OP” – now the developers have helped the killers.
A rather spontaneous patch for Dead by Daylight appeared, which was declared a “bug fix patch”. In fact, the update also brings some perk changes. The infamous “Boil Over” had become too strong and needed to be toned down, as killers were otherwise almost powerless.
What was the problem? It concerns the perk “Boil Over” of Kate Denson. The perk had only received a minor rework with the last patch. Instead of just amplifying the effects of wiggling on the killer’s shoulder, there was a new effect: Whenever the killer drops the survivor from a “great height,” the survivor immediately receives 25% of the wiggle bar as a completed bonus.
A “great height” is rather vaguely defined in Dead by Daylight. In some cases, it can be small falls of a few centimeters, just as well as deep drops of several meters. Thus, it could happen that after two consecutive “falls” of a few centimeters, the survivor is almost dropped.
The survivors accordingly found ways to exploit this perk. In some maps, there are positions where the killer has virtually no other chance but to drop somewhere. This led in some cases to a guaranteed escape. Since the survivors could always run back to this safe “safe spot,” it was apparently not intended that way.

What has changed? With the update, the perk now functions a little differently. It still retains its basic functionality of providing an advantage when falling from a great height – but not as massively anymore. Instead of granting 25% of the total wiggle progress, the perk now provides a bonus of 33% on the wiggle progress made during a fall.
How does this affect gameplay? Essentially, this means that the progress on the wiggle bar is greater the later the killer jumps down while carrying.
Here are a few examples:
- If you have already filled 20% of the wiggle bar and the killer falls, you only get a bonus of nearly 7%. The effect is therefore relatively small.
- If the wiggle bar is already at 75% when the killer falls, however, there is a significant boost of a solid 25%.
In other words: If the killer falls down rather late while carrying – for instance, at the entrance to the dangerous basement – the survivor is immediately freed. In such cases, the perk still pays off and can save one or another life.
