Call of Duty: Warzone receives a cool new location from one of the best movies of the 80s with the new update Season 3 Reloaded. It is the Nakatomi Plaza from the legendary movie “Die Hard”. This might even motivate our author Jürgen Horn to finally enter the Warzone again.
What’s the deal with Nakatomi Plaza? Season 3 of CoD Warzone brings the 80s back to life even more. In addition to Action heroes Rambo and John McClane as operators in the game, there are also locations from the films of these cult action heroes. Rambo gets camps in the forest and instead of the “Broadcast Towers” in downtown Verdansk, there’s the iconic Nakatomi Plaza with the largest building in the city.
And I, Jürgen Horn from MeinMMO, am now really excited about the Warzone with Season 3 Reloaded!
Die Hard is my favorite movie and with Nakatomi Plaza, Warzone gets really cool
What’s so good about the theme? If you ask me about my favorite movies, then Die Hard is at the top of the list. The movie from 1988 has everything that makes a good action film. Unlike mindless violence fests like the infamous Commando or the second Rambo, this has the perfect mix of suspense, humor, crazy action, and unexpected twists.
The film succeeds through the intelligent structure of the plot, where the hero John McClane and the brilliant yet arrogant villain Hans Gruber keep placing obstacles in each other’s way, thus always driving the plot forward.
In this way, McClane doesn’t come off as overwhelmingly powerful and invincible like most other action heroes of the decade. Rather, he just wants to pick up his wife from a lame Christmas party and doesn’t even have shoes on when the action begins.
Unforgettable is also the disturbing scene where McClane has to run barefoot through shards of glass, leaving a gruesome trail of blood through the Nakatomi Tower.
But the humor in the film is never lacking, and to this day, the phrase “Yippie-ya-yeah, pork belly!” is unforgettable for 80s guys like me. This is a highly original translation of the much less funny original “Yippee-ki-yay, motherfucker”. Whoever was the translator back then deserves a medal for that line!
Just writing these lines evokes in me the desire to watch the good old Die Hard again. And play Warzone! Because so far, I have always avoided this game because I personally don’t like the soldier and war theme. But with the 80s charm of the Nakatomi Plaza and preferably with a McClane operator skin, I should take a look at the game after all.
Since I have not gained any combat experience in the Warzone of Call of Duty yet, I should first see which weapons, equipment, and associated loadouts are worth it in Season 3. Fortunately, my colleagues at MeinMMO have created a practical list for this. Check it out, it might help you too to achieve better kills in Warzone! See you at Nakatomi Plaza!
