In Destiny 2, a player does not want to part with his favorite planet. He painstakingly recreates the location and you can even have fun in the replica.
What happens to the planet? In Destiny 2, players will soon have to part with the planet Mars and other locations. The locations will disappear along with all content like quests and missions.
The planets are not completely lost forever, they will rotate out of the game indefinitely. This makes room for new content like the ice moon Europa and returning highlights from Destiny 1 – the Cosmodrome and the iconic raid Glass Vault have already been announced.

“If Bungie wants to vault Mars, I’ll just build it myself in 200 hours!”
A player has now done that: The Guardian and Reddit user Quantum086 has recreated the red planet himself. Although “shortly” may not be quite appropriate: According to his statements, the undertaking took 200 hours and kept him busy for a whole month.

This is how the reconstruction went: The creator himself says about his motivation: “When I heard that Mars would disappear, I knew I had to save my favorite location somehow.” (via reddit).
He reconstructed the area using Valve’s Hammer Editor – the tool for creating custom levels or maps has almost 20 years under its belt and provides content to players for games like Half Life and Counter-Strike.

What Destiny players say about it: The handcrafted work is very well received by the community. The corresponding Reddit post has received more than 8,000 upvotes and the Mars enthusiast is praised across the board.
Some players believe that now one meets in Counter-Strike for Destiny matches. Statements like “Mars will become de_dust3” amuse the readers. Dust and Dust II (filename de_dust2) are well-known and popular maps from Counter-Strike that also take place in dusty desert areas.
Quantum086 is visibly pleased with the response to his work. Unfortunately, he has to decline the question of whether he will also recreate other locations as maps. The complex vegetation and nature are cited as reasons.
