The pain over the decision not to offer German realms for WoW Classic runs deep. But there is a workaround organized by the players.
For several days now, there has only been one big topic around World of Warcraft Classic. Blizzard has announced that it will not offer language-specific servers. This means that on most realms in WoW Classic, all European languages will be represented. So there will be no purely German servers.
While many fans express their frustration freely in the forum, some players are organizing to solve the problem themselves. They plan to turn one (or more) servers into a “German project”.
What is being planned? The goal is to initially unite the German players and then develop a common plan with the intention of turning one or more servers into “German” realms. Thus, German players should predominantly populate the realms selected by the community to find easier connections to guilds and other game content.
How many realms are being considered is not yet entirely clear. However, especially role players are likely to have a strong interest in a realm where predominantly German is spoken.
How can you participate? Anyone interested in the project should simply visit the corresponding Discord server and connect with like-minded individuals. Numerous guilds and upcoming projects are already forming there, wanting to get started together in WoW Classic. So far, nearly 1850 players have gathered on the Discord server. Other language groups are planning similar things: Players from other languages are also organizing and coordinating to occupy servers strategically. To avoid getting in each other’s way, the communities are in communication with each other. The leadership of the German community is already in talks with the French and Spanish players.
Will Blizzard allow this? Currently, the project leadership is still trying to get in touch with Blizzard to facilitate possible collaboration or to ask for a server list to estimate the number of realms and the division into specific game areas (PvP, PvE, RP). Whether Blizzard is willing to cooperate in any way is rather questionable.
Is there still hope for a change? Some fans still hope that Blizzard will backtrack and reconsider the decision. After all, there have been numerous complaints from European players in the official forum regarding this change, who feel they are not experiencing the “true Classic”. Whether Blizzard will change its mind about this will be the biggest concern for the player base.
There is already an initial reaction from Blizzard.
