Some scopes of powerful sniper rifles in Call of Duty: Warzone do not work properly and do not show scope reflection. Duels with the long-range rifles should therefore be avoided.
What’s it about? Sniper rifles are powerful weapons in Call of Duty: Warzone. A targeted shot between the eyebrows is enough to send an opponent into the K.O. phase. The one-shot potential, along with their large scopes and mega range, makes sniper rifles popular companions in the battle royale Warzone.
In order for a “target” to have any chance, sniper rifles normally come with a “glint”. This is a scope reflection that shows you if someone is aiming at you with a sniper rifle through a large scope. However, this balancing feature is currently – once again – broken. Some scopes simply come without glint for some players.
Snipers through a bug with an unfair advantage
What does it look like? On reddit, user “ll-EXODiA” shows a compilation of 2 deaths by snipers without glint:
In both situations, the player should have seen a brief flash of the scope reflection indicating that a sniper rifle was aimed at them. But nothing – although the kill cam shows large sniper rifles and scopes, there was no visual warning for the player. Which scopes cause the problem? It is currently not certain. What seems certain is that this time snipers from Cold War are also participating. When the bug last appeared in April, only snipers from CoD MW were affected. But the sniper scope of the popular Kar 98k is also said to be affected.
However, it seems that not every player is affected by the problem. In the reddit thread about the video, some players confirm the bug. Others say they were just hit by a sniper scope of the Kar 98k with glint. So there seems to be an unclear component as well.
We are keeping an eye on developments regarding this topic and will update the article accordingly when there is new information about glint.
Is a fix for the scopes coming? Since the problem leads to unfair conditions in the game, a fix should not take long. Currently, however, there is no new entry regarding the bug on the developers’ Trello board (via trello.com). The board posts problems that the Warzone creators are currently actively working on.
Additionally, it seems that not all players are affected by the bug. The awareness of the unfair bug is only slowly increasing, yet the frustration of those affected is rising much faster. The bug has apparently been haunting the game for at least 2 weeks – the big Warzone YouTuber “FaZe Jev” had problems with an opponent who had no glint with his Kar 98k shortly before the start of Season 4 (via YouTube / Timestamp 11:00 minutes).
What can I do now? If you are affected by the bug, there is not much you can do. Avoid open areas, try maybe a few rounds on Rebirth Island, and hope for a quick fix for the bug.
Once a sniper opens fire on you and you cannot directly ascertain where the shot came from – take to your heels and look for a house nearby. Playing against snipers without glint is no fun in Warzone.
