Another “Battle Royale” game has seen the light of day: Battlerite Royale is now available on Steam. The market entry went excellently for the game: Battlerite Royale was the top seller at launch. But whether that will remain the case is yet to be seen.
Battlerite Royale – Global top seller: Shortly after its early access release on September 26, 2018, Battlerite stormed the sales charts on Steam. As InvenGlobal reports, Battlerite Royale reached number 1 on the global top seller list within just a few hours, ahead of Pathfinder: Kingmaker.
Battlerite Royale – yet another BR game or something more?
Battlerite Royale is different: To stand out among the plethora of BR games, Battlerite Royale takes a different approach to the BR genre. You play in an isometric perspective, similar to a MOBA, and in teams of three.
Generally, Battlerite Royale is oriented towards games like Realm Royale. You can choose from 20 characters, all of whom have unique abilities and are inspired by the existing heroes from the predecessor, Battlerite.
The item selection is somewhat broader. According to InvenGlobal, there are supposed to be rocket boots and bear traps. Abilities are found and equipped just like in Realm Royale.
The community finds it good, but … The current ratings on Steam are “mostly positive” (71% from 469 ratings, as of 28.09. 14:40). Most positive reviews praise the fun of the game and the variety brought by the new mechanics in Battlerite Royale.
However, there are also negative aspects that are even mentioned in recommendations:
- it feels like a mode of Battlerite, not like a standalone game
- the skill pickups annoy some players
- there are apparently still not fully developed content and systems, such as islands that cannot be left
- and some players would not have purchased it at full price.
The criticism is also reflected in the top seller list. Already today, on 28.09.2018 at 14:40, Battlerite Royale has slipped back to 8th place on the global top sellers.
Is Battlerite Royale free? Battlerite Royale is a buy-to-play title currently priced at €17.99 on Steam (down from €19.99). A free-to-play release is planned for 2019, similar to the predecessor Battlerite.
