The shooter Star Wars: Battlefront is getting a new DLC. Just in time for the movie “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”.
A new Battlefront DLC in time for the movie release
Star Wars: Battlefront is doing great and there is no end in sight for the shooter on consoles and PC. In the coming months, the next DLC, thematically focused on the Death Star, awaits all Season Pass owners, but even after that, there will still be new content. At this year’s “Star Wars Celebration,” Electronic Arts spoke about the next DLC, which will be released close to the premiere of the next Star Wars film.
The DLC is called “Rogue One: Scarif” and will – who could have guessed – take place on the planet Scarif. While no footage of the new maps has been released yet, if the maps are based on the film, there will likely be a mix of beach and jungle, as seen on the movie posters.
At least 2 new characters have also been confirmed for the DLC, allowing players to assume the role of Jyn Erso on the Rebel side. Additionally, the antagonist of the film, the nasty Orson Krennic, will be playable on the Imperial side as a villain and will take up arms.
The movie release of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” is scheduled for December 16, 2016. EA plans to release the DLC as close to this date as possible to take full advantage of the general Star Wars hype surrounding the film. Aside from that, the usual “DLC rules” of EA apply, meaning: owners of the Season Pass will have access to the new content 2 weeks earlier than the rest of the player base.
