Sith fans are currently left out in Star Wars: Battlefront 2. Their Emperor has been removed from the game. The reason seems to be a bug.
If you log into Star Wars: Battlefront 2 these days and consider hopping across the battlefields as Emperor Palpatine, you probably wonder. The Sith Emperor has been temporarily disabled by the developers and is currently not selectable in the game. What happened? Why is the Empire suddenly without its Emperor?
Why was Palpatine disabled? In the past, Palpatine was nerfed because his Force Lightning could target enemies through walls. After a nerf, that was thought to be a thing of the past. Now there was a new hotfix that, according to some players and YouTubers, brought back this issue.
EA and DICE saw no other choice but to completely remove Palpatine from the game for the time being. According to the Manager of Community Engagement, Ben Walke, “this decision was not made lightly, but we believe it is in everyone’s best interest [to deactivate him] until a hotfix can be deployed.”
Fans pretty frustrated. On Reddit, opinions among players are mixed. While some fans are glad that action was taken quickly to contain the issue and maintain game balance, a large portion of players is quite frustrated and wonders how often updates and patches have already worsened the game and introduced new bugs. Their patience with the developers is wearing thin.
When will Palpatine return? When Palpatine will return is still unclear. DICE is reportedly currently working on a hotfix. Once this has been deployed, the Emperor should be hopping across the battlefields again – whether with or without Force Lightning, that remains to be seen.
