The focus of the campaign of Battlefront 2 is unusual. It takes place in the Empire and shows the positive sides of the galactic superpower.
One of the major criticisms of the shooter Star Wars: Battlefront was the lack of a singleplayer campaign. Many fans associate Star Wars with great stories and were correspondingly disappointed that they found only pure multiplayer action in Battlefront.
With Star Wars: Battlefront 2, Electronic Arts aims to make up for this mistake and present fans this time a solo campaign, the story of which will captivate players.
It is unusual that the protagonist of the story does not come from the Rebels or the Republic. Instead, a successful soldier of the Empire is used to tell the story from a different perspective.
Even Stormtroopers are just human
The story is intended to help portray the Empire as a little more vivid than it is depicted in the films and many other games. According to the developers, the Empire is not a “forced, coerced bunch who have been brainwashed.”
Iden Versio, the protagonist of Star Wars: Battlefront 2, comes from an “imperial family” – her father is, for example, the admiral of a fleet. The story is meant to show what people see as good in the Empire and why they act as they do. Players should “meet the people within the Empire” to understand what the average Stormtrooper is really like – namely quite different from a soldier who just can’t aim properly.
Cortyn says: I always find it wonderful when attempts are made to breathe more life into the clichéd “villains” that Stormtroopers are. The conflicts between the light and dark sides of the Force are much more exciting and dramatic when there is more than just “black” and “white.” A little love for the Empire can’t hurt. I am expecting a lot from the campaign and am even inclined to get the game just for that reason…
