Fair progress in the multiplayer of Star Wars Battlefront 2? No problem anymore, Electronic Arts assures now and comments on the criticism of the loot box system that emerged during the beta.
There was a lot of criticism of the loot boxes in Star Wars Battlefront 2 during the beta.
Who wants to be at a disadvantage just because they can or want to spend no extra money on a game? Especially when they have already put a lot of money on the table for the game?
Until now, you could buy the chance for powerful items through loot boxes. That should no longer be so easy. The motto: Fight for it instead of shopping!

Here are the specific changes in detail
- The particularly powerful epic star cards are no longer included in loot boxes.
- Instead, you will be able to craft them yourself. Crafting olé! To achieve this, you must have reached a certain crafting level. This is achieved through something you can actually do without money: Just play and skill.
- However, pre-orderers and buyers of certain special editions will still receive a few cards.
- Particularly powerful weapons must be unlocked in multiplayer.
- A few weapons will still be found in loot boxes, but most must be earned.
- Class-specific equipment and items must also be unlocked.
- If you want to own more items for the Heavy Trooper, you simply have to fight your way through the game as that exact Heavy Trooper more often.
- Gradually, milestones will be unlocked that grant you class-specific loot boxes. These contain, in addition to star cards, materials for crafting certain items.
Additionally, EA says, this system will of course be continuously revised and improved.

“Balance and fairness are very important to us!”
During a conference call, Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson delved deeper into the matter. Balance and fairness are a standard for Dice to develop games, and that has worked well in the past.
The outlook from Electronic Arts seems forward-looking: They engage in regular exchanges with players to ensure improvements, after all, a multiplayer game is designed for years of play. Scaring off players prematurely is not an option. Almost all advantages, Wilson proudly states, are obtainable through gameplay.
They are very optimistic at EA and are clearly looking forward to the Battlefront reboot, which is said to have three times the content of the original.
Could Pay2Win be a thing of the past? I’m keeping my fingers crossed for us.
