A short teaser trailer for the new shooter Battlefield V seems to confirm what many suspected: The new shooter is set in World War II. A small piece of information in the HUD appears to provide the crucial hint.
EA has released a teaser trailer that gives players a first brief look at Battlefield V. The teaser trailer was spread through EA’s channels.
What can be seen and heard in the trailer? The trailer features sounds of combat and a stifled scream. Then we see a man with raised glasses, who calls for silence by holding a finger to his mouth and saying “Psst”. These are the first images we see from Battlefield V. Apparently, a Conquest battle is taking place. Various symbols for capture points can also be recognized.
Why do people think Battlefield V could be set in World War II? At the top of the image, in the HUD, two flags can be seen. These can be identified as symbols of Great Britain (Union Jack) and Germany (Balkenkreuz). Therefore, it is assumed that Battlefield V will take place in World War II, as Germany only used the Balkenkreuz during this time period. Additionally, leaks and rumors had already suggested that Battlefield V will be set in World War II – hence, people had already been looking for clues and found them now.
What else have sharp-eyed fans spotted?
- The contradiction here is that it is a multiplayer battle, but a cinematic sequence is being played. Therefore, it is believed that this could be a “Takedown” animation.
- Furthermore, when the trailer aired on EA’s Twitter channel, the branding of “Xbox One” was included. So it is believed that the Xbox One will have the marketing rights to Battlefield V this time.
- And it seems that Battlefield V has a minimized weapon HUD in the bottom right.
That’s quite a lot to figure out from just a few seconds.
