Currently, it seems to be trending to bring popular game worlds to the big screen. World of Warcraft, Assassins Creed, and even there are already plans for a film adaptation of The Division.
Now the shooter series Battlefield is also to serve as a template – not for a feature film, but for a TV series.
Battlefield comes to television
The rights to a Battlefield TV series have been secured by Paramount Television and Anonymous Content, with the project already in development. However, specific details are still not known. The president of Paramount TV, Amy Powell, is quoted as saying:
Paramount TV is actively looking for clever content from all areas that resonate with the audience and enable interesting programming. EA’s Battlefield has an incredibly dynamic story, along with a loyal fan base, which allows us to bring this exciting and unique series to the small screen.
Michael Sugar from Anonymous Content also emphasizes the strong storytelling of Battlefield, which has contributed to the game’s success for nearly 15 years. Therefore, they want to develop the TV series with great commitment together with EA.
