Battlefield 2042 completely forwent single-player campaigns recently. But now EA is bringing together resources to fully restart in this area in the future. The game makers have big plans.
Battlefield 2042 did not have a single-player campaign, which was previously common in the franchise. However, that is supposed to change now.
EA DICE is currently assembling its own team to support Ridgeline Games in the development of the single-player campaign. The game makers comment on the endeavor and have grand plans for the Battlefield campaign.

Who is working on the single-player campaign? On September 8, 2022, EA announced that Ridgeline Games is now another studio collaborating on the development of the Battlefield franchise. Ridgeline Games is based in Seattle and is led by Halo creator Marcus Lehto (via news.ea.com).
The focus of the studio will be to create a narrative campaign set in the Battlefield universe. But it doesn’t stop there: An additional team from EA DICE will also be made available to assist in development.
What do the game makers say about the endeavor? Vice President and General Manager of EA DICE, Rebecka Coutaz, explains: “Our decision to expand our single-player team here at DICE is a proactive approach that equips our global teams with the resources they need at an early stage as we prepare for the next Battlefield experience” (via GamesIndustry.biz).
She expresses optimism regarding the plans for the campaign: “We have immense strengths and opportunities within our three global studios, with each team bringing its own deep franchise experience. Now we are able to expand the possibilities and benefit from new talents who will help Ridgeline write the next chapter of the franchise.”
Back then, at the disappointing launch of Battlefield 2042, Rebecka Coutaz spoke frankly.
Furthermore, Marcus Lehto, head of Ridgeline Games, adds: “Our vision, combined with their experience with the franchise, will help us develop a single-player campaign that will captivate players in new ways while remaining true to the classic elements that make Battlefield so unique.”
Thus, they want to awaken old feelings and enrich them with innovations to lead Battlefield campaigns into the future.
