The developers of Battlefield 6 are finally listening to the players and taking care of the request for larger maps. However, that won’t happen immediately.
What are the developers planning? The developers of Battlefield 6 have recognized the issue with their maps. It’s no surprise, as complaints about having too few and too small maps have dominated much of the discussion surrounding Battlefield 6 for weeks.
In an interview with PCGamer, DICE Seasons Producer Philipp Girette discussed the new maps and how they plan to adjust them. He stated right at the beginning: “We don’t want to reveal too much just yet, but we have understood the message very clearly.”

How do the developers plan to solve the problem? The developers cannot magically create maps for the game, and developing new maps takes time. However, to avoid disappointing fans, they have focused on the familiar map “Golmud Railway.” This is expected to be added to the game as soon as possible to at least provide a first taste.
As you recently saw in Battlefield Labs, we have started testing Golmud Railway, one of the older Battlefield maps. That is one of the answers [to this feedback] that we can provide, and the rest is for the future.

While the maps “Contaminated” and “Hagental Base” were planned before the release of Battlefield 6, changes to “Golmud Railway” could be made only at the last minute, the developer explains. However, this does not apply to upcoming maps.
Regarding the maps, we are trying to make changes to those currently in development […] and then we will look further into the future […]. The creation of these maps takes a very long time. We are not restricted, but we must proceed very purposefully… I think we will definitely look at the existing maps, but we cannot announce anything that will happen in Season 2 yet.

What does this mean? Specifically, this likely means that players will have to make do with Golmud Railway for Season 2 once the larger map arrives. Additional maps are probably not expected until at least Season 3, although work is being done to provide larger and more maps.
However, it is also clear that not only large maps will be added to Battlefield 6 in the future.
Fans can breathe a sigh of relief: The developers have heard their concerns and are trying to adjust the next maps to meet their wishes. Whether this promise will be enough for the players remains to be seen. Right now, however, fans are happy about a recent update: Battlefield 6 changes its movement with Season 2, earning immediate praise from the community: “The game feels much better now”
