Battlefield 5 listens to the angry masses of fans and gives in. After a week of controversial discussions, the Time to Kill (TTK) is being reset to its original state.
What happened? On December 12, the developers from DICE increased the Time to Kill by reducing the damage of almost all weapons in Battlefield 5. This change was not well received by many fans – neither by veterans nor by newcomers.

After just one week, DICE now admits mistakes and will reverse the TTK changes today, on December 18.
What does this mean for players? In a tweet, Global Community Manager Dan Mitre stated that the Time to Kill will be reset to its original state, as it was at the launch of Battlefield 5, following the recent changes.
Additionally, the Conquest Core Playlist will be removed and other recently planned Core Playlists, where players could still play with the old TTK, will be discarded.

When will the TTK reset occur? An update will take place at 1 PM our time, which will restore the TTK to its original values. The update will be server-side, so you will not need to download and install a patch.
How does DICE justify this decision? In addition to Mitre’s tweet, the developers published another open letter to the community on Reddit, explaining the reasons for this step.
They followed fans’ feedback for a week after the recent changes, analyzed data, and concluded to reset the changes.

With the recent changes to the Time to Kill and the Conquest Core Playlist, they hoped to ease the entry for newcomers while also giving veterans a chance to continue playing with the old values – even though many did not ask for changes. This was evidently not achieved.
During the last week, they learned a lot. They recognized the problems surrounding Time till Death (TTD), identified poor balance among weapons, and collected valuable data on how TTK changes affect the game and players.
With this knowledge, they now have a better idea of how Battlefield 5 should be improved in the future – for both veterans and newcomers. Resetting the Time to Kill to its original values is the first step.

What was the problem with the recent changes to the Time to Kill? These adjustments apparently went against the wishes of most fans. Because large parts of the community repeatedly emphasized that the TTK itself was fine.
The problem lies more in the Time till Death (TTD) and the poor netcode of the game. Fans had wished for these issues to be addressed primarily. But instead, DICE ignored these demands and made changes to the TTK, even though most players saw no need for it.
By doing so, the developers aligned the game with the wishes of those who no longer play it, thus alienating veterans and further dividing the community.
