The new mini-teaser for Battlefield 5 is already better received by fans than the long reveal trailer. But why?
With its reveal trailer, Battlefield 5 had a difficult start. The video garnered plenty of downvotes on YouTube. Now, the developers are releasing a new teaser for the multiplayer that shows just 5 seconds of gameplay, and fans are ecstatic. A topsy-turvy world?
New Battlefield V Trailer
With a mini-teaser, EA aims to excite the fans before the E3 appearance. And surprisingly, it works. The multiplayer teaser shows players jumping out of an airplane, soldiers parachuting onto a battlefield, and burning, crashing planes. All set in a snowy environment.
The reactions are largely positive: On YouTube, fans are writing
- “Now we have hope in the game again”
- “Why wasn’t this the actual trailer?”.
- “13 seconds and still better than the original trailer”
- Others are completely convinced and celebrate the video: “THIS is what we want!!!”
At its core, players are happy about the showcased gameplay. The short video seems to resonate more with the players than the actual reveal trailer.
Why was there initially a bad atmosphere?
Many fans were dissatisfied with the reveal trailer … to be exact: They were outraged over the Battlefield 5 trailer. They were unhappy about the inclusion of women in the game.
But EA and Dice will not back down: The women will stay in Battlefield 5.
On YouTube, many expressed their frustration through negative ratings. With over 10 million views, there are about 300,000 thumbs up and nearly 400,000 thumbs down.
“I completely forgot that women with mechanical arms won World War II,” critics write. “Oh my God, is anyone talking about the katana on the soldier’s back? #WTFDice?”
