Right at release, Battlefield 5 will offer 8 maps in multiplayer modes. We show you which ones they are.
Recently, the Battlefield 5 team released a detailed look at what to expect in the online shooter. The new trailer is over 6 minutes long and also presents the eight multiplayer maps that will be playable right at the start of BF 5. These include maps like Rotterdam or Narvik.
Here we give you an impression of the individual maps. The names are not all finalized yet, so we are using placeholders here.
Rotterdam
One of the 8 maps takes you to the bridges and canals of Rotterdam. The narrow alleys are excellent for close-range fights. In the process, you tear parts of the city apart and cause severe devastation with heavy equipment.
Battlefield also released a trailer for the destruction of Rotterdam:
Devastation
This map is also set in Holland, like Rotterdam. Both maps belong to the Battle-of-Holland mission in the Grand Operations. On this map, pure chaos reigns as you fight in the remaining ruins of war.
DICE has already confirmed that the Devastation map was built with dynamic destruction elements. This means that parts of the map change during a match when they are bombed or shot at. This is intended to provide realistic gameplay.
Fields in France – Yellow Fields
In the new trailer, the soldier walks through yellow fields. The narrator tells us that these bloom on French soil. There is no official name for the map yet. YouTuber and Battlefield expert “Westie” named the map Yellow Fields.
Snow Mountain
After the fields in France, the trailer shows a snowy summit area. Fans call the map “Snow Mountain”.
In the overview of the map, one can see a central camp with houses, but also other smaller meeting points. If the map allows for aircraft, one should not feel too safe in the huts, as they make good targets for bomb attacks.
Narvik
Another “cool” map can be found with Narvik. The snow-covered landscape of Norway invites you to battle here. The map is inspired by the Battle of Narvik, which took place from April to June 1940.
You can expect many houses here, where you can hide or spot enemies.
Hamada
The Hamada map is set in the region of North Africa. There are a total of 2 maps, along with Airfield.
Here you can expect a huge tank battle. The map is inspired by a strategic point between Libya and Egypt. The battle with vehicles is likely to be the focus here.
“Airfield” in North Africa
This is the second map set in North Africa. In contrast to the bright, sandy environment of Hamada, it appears darker and more destroyed here.
You see planes and burning, devastated hangars. YouTuber Westie aptly names the map “Airfield”.
Twisted Steel
When you fight on the Twisted-Steel map, you are outside of the narrow cities. Here, it’s the land side of France. You can expect wide fields and small forests.
On Twisted Steel, you will also find a massive bridge. DICE says this is the largest structure they have ever created for a Battlefield game. Attacking and capturing this bridge will likely require a high level of coordination.
Which setting of the maps do you like best?
