Electronic Arts and Dice have introduced the maps that the online shooter Battlefield 5 will launch with.
Eight maps are included, which some players feel is a bit too few – they wish for more and especially larger maps. What it will really look like in the game will be seen at the release of Battlefield 5 on November 20.
Eight Maps at the Launch of BF 5
These maps are included: The eight maps in the game are named
- Twisted Steel – A map focusing on a destroyed bridge that presents challenges to the players.
- Arras – A large map where infantry seek shelter from oncoming tanks.
- Narvik – You fight for control of the snowy port city.
- Fjell 652 – At the top of a mountain, infantry come together.
- Rotterdam – A city map where the narrow streets are the scene of battles.
- Devastation – Rotterdam after the air raid poses a challenge due to the ruins.
- Hamada – A large desert map designed for vehicle combat.
- Aerodrome – A ruin where infantry and vehicles meet.
The maps take place in France, Norway, the Netherlands, and North Africa. Hamada is the largest map, while Fjell 652 is the smallest. You can play the maps in various game modes.
More is coming: In the video introducing the maps, the first map is also mentioned, which will be introduced after the launch of Battlefield 5: Panzerstorm. It will be added in December with the “Overture Tides of War” chapter and will focus on vehicle combat.
Too Few and Too Small Maps?
Players want more: The reactions to the introduction of the maps are mixed. Many wish for even more maps and express concerns about the size of some of the maps.
eelSkillz says in the official forum: “Overall a great trailer. All maps look excellent and I think it’s cool that they differ so much from each other.”
staRS-SirBob: “Actually quite disappointing. Only one to three maps are worth playing. 64 players will again be crammed together with vehicles in a small box.”
