In Battlefield 5, every player should play the same content. That’s why this installment does without the Premium Pass.
During the reveal of Battlefield 5, the developers stated that all players can always play together.
This means: No more money needs to be invested to access all game modes and maps at any time. In Battlefield 1, a Premium Pass was still included, but in Battlefield 5, it will not return.
Battlefield V Tides of War – Live Service
Battlefield 5 includes a service called Tides of War, which gives every player access to new maps, game modes, and content from the expansions. The expansions are said to be all free.
EA says that this change is in the interest of players and DICE. So you no longer have to hope that your friends have already bought the same DLCs so you can play together. None of your friends have to miss out anymore because they don’t have certain maps. A feature like Premium Friends, which shared paid content with others, is therefore obsolete.
Setting in World War II in Battlefield V
In Battlefield 5, the focus is initially on the early battles of the Second World War. Gradually, the developers will then release more content that will confront you with later conflicts of the war.
Forgoing the Premium Pass means that the entire community can always see and use the same content. Everyone is on a shared adventure at the same time. EA and DICE have thereby a lot of control over the overall player experience.
What can you buy? In the stream, it was clearly stated that there will be no pay-to-win elements in Battlefield 5. Cosmetic items will likely be for sale, but they should not give any advantages in the game. Just look good.
It is assumed that Battlefield 5 will be released simultaneously on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The Standard version of Battlefield 5 will launch on October 19, 2018.
