A leak of the cover of Battlefield 5 gives fans even more reasons for a WW2 setting. The image shows a paratrooper from World War 2.
Rumors have been circulating for weeks that the new Battlefield 5 will take place in World War II. A teaser trailer earlier this week already pointed clearly to this setting. A leak from the Chinese PlayStation Store shows a soldier in action. Fans say: “That is a US paratrooper” and see confirmation in details of the World War 2 assumption.
Battlefield 5 – Leak from the PS Store
On the evening of May 23, Battlefield 5 is set to be presented. But fans want to know what to expect beforehand.
In the new leak, they discover a M1911 pistol and an M1 Carbine rifle. Reddit user mamayev_bacon takes a close look and says: “He’s wearing a M1942 paratrooper uniform.” Additionally, they would recognize from the pockets and straps that it is probably a soldier from the 101st Airborne Division (Wiki).
After the recent teaser trailer and this leak, fans are now sure that Battlefield 5 takes place in World War II. Unless there are still surprising changes planned that would throw all hints out the window.
Reddit user Slepijoe_ writes “Welp, now there seems to be no doubt left about the WW2 setting.” Additionally, another user writes that the theme is already secured through the teaser. Symbols are visible that suggest Germany and Great Britain.
Call of Duty was recently successful with its World War II setting and was able to excite many players for the shooter. Apparently, the thirst for this shooter setting in the gaming scene is not yet quenched.
Perhaps the paratroopers also symbolize that one jumps out of an airplane at the start of a match. Because Battlefield 5 could get a battle royale mode. But is that necessary?
