After Chapter 1: Overture for Battlefield 5 was postponed at short notice, there is now good news for all fans. The update will be delivered today. Here you will find all the information about the update, the server downtime, and the patch notes.
What happened? Battlefield 5 was supposed to receive its first free content as part of the new Tides of War service on December 4th. However, a few hours before release, the developers at DICE discovered an error in the update, forcing them to withhold the content boost.
Instead, there was a sneak peek at the new map and some changes. Now the new release date has finally been announced.
When will the first Tides of War content come? Fortunately, fans won’t have to wait long.
As the developers announced on Twitter, the first Tides of War content Chapter 1: Overture will be delivered today, December 5th – just one day later than originally planned.
Although it was already mentioned at the time of the postponement that it wouldn’t take long, some fans feared a longer wait. Moreover, DICE has apologized to the fans for the delay.
Server downtime for Battlefield 5: In order for the update to be implemented, the Battlefield 5 servers will go offline today for one hour each:
- PC will start at 10 AM
- The Playstation 4 will be next at 11 AM
- The Xbox One will follow at 12 PM
If no unforeseen problems arise, all Battlefield 5 servers will be back online around 1 PM.

What can fans look forward to today? With today’s Tides of War update, the following content and changes will be introduced into the game:
- A new war story “The Last Tiger”, where you take on the role of the crew of a German Tiger I tank and must win a seemingly hopeless battle
- A new multiplayer map “Tank Storm”, where large tank battles are expected to take place
- A training ground where you can hone your weapon and vehicle skills
- Improvements to the Medic class. Among other things, the SMGs will be adjusted so that the Medic can keep up with the weapons of other classes
- Faster revives
Do the new contents cost anything? Since Battlefield 5 does not rely on a season pass or a premium model, all Battlefield 5 players can look forward to the new content that will be delivered as part of the new live service Tides of War for free.
