Somehow, there is a battle royale mode in Battlefield 5 that is hidden in the Grand Operations. But don’t expect Fortnite here.
This happened: In advance, there were rumors that Battlefield V would have a battle royale mode. This was “partially” confirmed during the reveal on May 23.
There will be a last man standing in the new Grand Operations. But how much Fortnite and PUBG is in this mode?
The last survivor decides the match – Grand Operations in Battlefield V
For Call of Duty Black Ops 4, a battle royale mode was already announced to tap into the player base of Fortnite and others. Now fans are also speculating about such a mode in the new Battlefield. What does DICE say about it?
There was much anticipation for the reveal of Battlefield V. Although DICE did not explicitly mention a BR mode, something similar will be in Battlefield 5.
Already in Battlefield 1, there was the mode “Operations”, which spans multiple rounds. In Battlefield V, this mode is elevated to the next level and is called “Grand Operations” or “Large Operations”.
Operations come with four gameplay rounds. In Grand Operations, players jump out of an airplane at the beginning of a round and glide onto the map. We already know this from BR games like PUBG. Then there are up to four gameplay rounds. Initially, they will likely try to take down the air defenses. After that, the fighting continues on the ground.
The last round can decide: If the match is not clearly determined before, there will be a fourth and final gameplay round called “Final Stand”. Players only have minimal ammunition supplies (probably only one magazine) and must loot resources from killed players. In the Final Stand, things get serious, as it will be fought until only one remains – the developers called it “Last Man Standing”.
BR elements are there, but hidden. The jumping out of the airplane and “the last survivor wins” we know from well-known BR games. However, Grand Operations are not a full-fledged battle royale mode. Here, developer DICE distances itself from the current BR trend and keeps this hype at bay.
Do you think this is good or do you wish for a battle royale mode in Battlefield V?
Battlefield V will be released on October 19, 2018, is set in World War II, and aims to improve significantly compared to earlier parts of the series. Surprisingly, Battlefield 5 does not include a premium pass – you should receive all maps for free.
