Battlefield developer DICE has expressed itself in a detailed blog post on the official website of Battlefield 2042 regarding the situation, the next update, and the future. MeinMMO summarizes for you what is included in the next patch and what the roadmap looks like after the release.
This is what the blog post is about: DICE comments in detail on the launch of Battlefield 2042 and the issues they want to address. First, the developers thank the players, stating that nearly twice as many are participating as previously at the launch of Battlefield V.
They want to do everything they can to deliver the Battlefield that the players deserve. Additionally, they will thoroughly evaluate whether features from previous Battlefield titles could return. For example, the scoreboard, server browser, and voice chat are highly requested by many fans. However, there are no concrete details on this yet.
However, there were updates about the upcoming update and the overall roadmap. Here you can find the information at a glance.
Update #2 is finally supposed to fix the assault rifle spread, coming tomorrow
This is what DICE says about the next update: After the developers previously commented on Twitter about the next update, there are finally new details. The officially titled Update #2 patch is expected to arrive tomorrow, Thursday, November 25.
The update addresses several significant issues:
- The spread of assault rifles and other weapons is expected to be reduced.
- This addresses a problem that has made assault rifles weaker at medium ranges than submachine guns.
- Other weapons are also partially affected by the improvement.
- Only shotguns are exempt from this.
- The buggy revives are expected to be fixed.
- The redeploy bug, where players were stuck in the revive screen will be addressed.
- The OP hovercraft and the Nightbird helicopter will be adjusted and slightly weakened.
The issue with the spread was a big topic. DICE wrote the following about it:
We have made a number of adjustments to many weapons aimed at significantly reducing the effects of spread on the shooting experience. In other words: after these changes, a well-aimed shot will hit its target within the intended range of the weapon.
Additionally, the progression system for Battlefield Portal and for solo and co-op matches against bots has been reactivated. It had been temporarily disabled because players were using the mode to boost their levels and quickly reach the maximum.
Now they have reactivated the system after making some modifications. DICE will continue to monitor farming servers and keep an eye on the issue.
Then it was about update #3 and how things will proceed.
Roadmap and Update #3
When is Update #3 coming? According to DICE, the third update is expected to come in early December and will include some changes and further fixes:
- Extensive improvements to the user interface, including enhancements to the weapon attachment menu.
- Improvements to matchmaking that are expected to significantly reduce the likelihood of unsuccessful player searches and improved crossplay.
- Enhanced progression, including weekly missions and challenges.
- Fixes for graphic errors and glitches.
- Over 150 fixes for maps.
- More editor options for Battlefield Portal and several smaller improvements to weapons, vehicles, and gadgets.
- Multiple improvements in Hazard Zone aimed at enhancing the experience.
- Optimizations for game modes in All-Out Warfare, Breakthrough, and Conquest.
- Fixes and improvements for vehicles, weapons, HUD, and bots.
Furthermore, there are some adjustments and fixes for the specialists. Several gadgets will also be optimized. But not only weapons and gadgets will be tweaked.
With Update #3, which fixes several minor errors, various improvements will also come for our soldiers. For example, bugs triggered by glitches with game physics, in the water, or under other circumstances will be fixed.
A currently prominent example is strange, floating soldiers who are swimming in the air when they try to stab into water:
The melee combat will also be improved and some glitches that could occur during a stealth takedown will be fixed.
A complete list of the changes can be found in DICE’s blog post on the official website: ea.com.
What is the performance on PC like? DICE has also commented on this. They are aware of the issue and are working on further optimizations, especially for the PC.
This will take more time and will take a while. However, they will “do everything possible in the short term” to improve performance and stabilize frame rates. So far, there are no concrete announcements about it.
