This week, Battlefield 2042 introduced the new mode “Hazard Zone,” which combines PvP and PvE elements. What do you think about this new mode?
This is Hazard Zone: DICE officially announced the new mode Hazard Zone for their upcoming shooter Battlefield 2042 on October 14. It is supposed to be the counterpart to Warzone in CoD, but it is not a battle royale.
Instead, the developer focuses on a mode that mixes PvP and PvE elements: it is somewhat reminiscent of the Dark Zone from The Division. Therefore, you will not only fight against other players but also against NPCs that complicate your (survival) in this mode.
Your goal is not, as often, to eliminate your opponents, but to collect important data drives and then get extracted from the zone.
These phases will be present: A match of Hazard Zone is divided into 5 sections:
- Phase 1: You can receive info about your starting point on the map during a briefing and equip yourself accordingly
- Phase 2: You will be dropped on the map and start exploring
- Phase 3: Since your objective in this mode is to recover the data drives, you need to comb through the battlefield. Special “Intel Scanners” will assist you.
- Phase 4: About halfway through the elapsed time, the first extraction opportunity will become available. The point for this will appear at a random location on the map
- Phase 5: In the final phase, you will get one last chance to be extracted from the area. But be mindful of the approaching storm; otherwise, you may not be able to escape from the zone.
In total, 2 teams can safely leave the Hazard Zone. Your priority is more on the data drives than on eliminating your teammates.
This is how big the Hazard Zone will be: The number of players per match depends on your console. Players of the old generation will have to settle for slightly smaller rounds:
- 24 players on Xbox One and PS4
- 32 players on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5
