In Battlefield 2042, you can level up all your weapons. With new levels, you unlock new attachments and skins for your weapon. The attachments can completely change the feel of the weapon – and perhaps also your effectiveness with it.
To unlock all attachments for a weapon in Battlefield 2042, you need approximately 400 kills with that weapon. With 22 weapons, this can take a long time in regular matches.

For many weapons, the first attachments that you can unlock are the most important and useful. Therefore, this method is still worthwhile despite this limitation.

Leveling up weapons and unlocking attachments against bots
In Battlefield 2042, it is possible to level up your weapons by getting kills in bot matches. Killed bots count towards the kills you need to unlock weapon attachments. Since you can set the bots to a low difficulty, this method is quick and easy.
How to start a bot match: To start a match against bots, you need to follow these steps:
- Select ‘All-Out Warfare’ in the start menu.
- Go to “Change Game Mode.”
- With Mouse & Keyboard: Click on the text “Change Game Mode” in the box at the bottom left.
- With Controller: Press X (Xbox) or Square (Playstation)
- Select “Solo & Coop” at the top right
- With Mouse & Keyboard: Click on the text “Solo & Coop.”
- With Controller: Press RB (Xbox) or R1 (Playstation)
- Select between Conquest or Breakthrough
- Optional: Change the difficulty of the bots and the map
- With Mouse & Keyboard: Press ‘F.’
- With Controller: Press Y (Xbox) or Triangle (Playstation)
- Exit the screen and start the game
This is how this method works: After a few moments, you should be in the bot match. Now try to kill as many bots as possible. However, make sure to use the weapon you want to level up for the kills.
As mentioned in our XP-Farming Guide, we recommend the ‘Breakthrough’ mode here. Although you cannot endlessly use this farming method against bots, you will be faster in the action this way. This helps you quickly gather many kills.
You should quickly see that thanks to this method, you unlock several attachments with new weapons.
Currently, the number of unlockable attachments per weapon is limited. We recommend using many different weapons. You currently cannot level up infinitely. However, the possibilities now are still enough to give you an advantage.
With this method, you can quickly and easily level up the new weapons you have unlocked to a level that helps you in real matches. This is especially recommended for the currently best weapons.
