Battlefield 2042 has three major categories. One of the biggest is the Portal mode, allowing fans to create their own modes. They can also utilize weapons from three major Battlefield classes.
What is Battlefield Portal? The mode is developed by Ripple Effect Studios (formerly DICE LA). Portal is meant to be a community-driven mode, where players can access content and maps from three Battlefield classics and create their own game modes. At launch, these are:
- Battlefield 3
- Battlefield: Bad Company 2
- Battlefield 1942
From these three titles, players can use vehicles, weapons, tools, and even factions and combine them in absurd ways. For example, you could pit soldiers from World War II against US troops from Battlefield 3.
How will the mode work? According to EA, players in Portal mode will have access to extensive tools to create custom game modes and make additional settings.
Tools will be available that could previously only be used by developers. However, you will not be able to change maps.

How to participate in Early Access: The Early Access for Battlefield 2042 starts on November 12 and you can join in. To do so, you must have either pre-ordered the Gold or Ultimate Edition or be a subscriber to EA Play – this way you can play early for €1. Anyone who does not meet these requirements will have to wait until the official release.
To avoid wasting game time with the download, it may be worth downloading the game via preload in advance.
When is the official release? It starts for everyone on November 19. Then the official release for PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5 and PS4.
