Tomorrow, on November 19th, is the full release of Battlefield 2042. The latest installment of the popular franchise starts with new modes and some features that have never been seen in Battlefield before. MeinMMO is accompanying the release with you. When does it start? The servers will open their gates for all players at 09:00 AM. So far, the early access phase has been running for players who purchased a corresponding edition or are EA Play subscribers. On MeinMMO you will find a comparison of all versions and which is worth it for you.

Update 15:43: The servers are running stable. However, many players are complaining about the redeploy bug. It has been known since the early access launch and the developers are working on a solution.

Update 09:56 AM: According to the official website, two more updates will be released in the first 30 days after launch. What they will bring exactly, however, is not mentioned in the entry. Insider Henderson had previously mentioned at least some details.

Update 09:00 AM: The servers are now officially available to all buyers.
Is there a preload and how big is the download? The preload started several days earlier. If you want to download the game, you need to be patient, as you will need about 50 GB of free space on each platform.

Battlefield 2042 will launch with crossplay between PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S as well as between PS4 and Xbox One. The split is technically grounded, as PC and the new generations support battles with up to 128 players. You will find a maximum of 64 players per match on the older consoles.

How is the mood? The start of the early access phase unfortunately went rather bumpy. The game is struggling with some issues.
In addition to technical problems, there are bugs, glitches, and mechanics that do not work as intended. At least there was already a first update that addressed some problems.
Nevertheless, there are also players who are not deterred by the problems and are having quite a bit of fun with the shooter.

Anyone wanting to engage more with Battlefield can already try the Portal mode. You don’t even need to purchase the game for this. The website to create your own modes can be used by anyone and is very well received.
How it went during Early Access on November 12th
Update 21:08 PM: There are still occasional issues with connection to the server and other errors that prevent joining a match. For most, however, it should be working by now, as the official support states:
Update 19:48 PM: The first players are logging in again and can play. The problems seem to be slowly subsiding.
Update 19:30 PM: Some players can log in again but receive further error messages when starting a round. The error “Unable to Load Persistence Data” prevents them from doing so. The Battlefield support has already stated that the issue is known. EA reminds players with the test version to completely exit the game to avoid wasting the 10 hours in the menu (via Twitter).
Update 19:15 PM: The largest mass of players is likely attempting to log in, which reflects on the servers. With the note “unable to connect” the servers seem to be currently overloaded or completely down. More players are reporting connection issues. We can also confirm that logging in is currently not possible for us.
Update 15:45 PM: Aside from performance and the scoreboard, no major issues with Battlefield 2042 have emerged significantly thus far. Most players seem to be enjoying the release. We will temporarily end the ticker and continue to accompany the new shooter with info, guides, and articles.
Update 13:30 PM: There is already a first update from the developers which adjusts the experience points of the portal mode. In addition, more servers for Portal are to be made available:

Update 11:25 PM: Performance and the scoreboard continue to dominate the discussion on Reddit. Players are also complaining about missing content, refunds are being demanded in parts. Traditionally, however, a loud minority is particularly present here. The silent majority seems mainly to just be playing and enjoying the game, and on Twitter, there are continued praises. What is your first impression?
Update 10:50 PM: The discussion about the scoreboard escalates in the community. Thousands of players want more insight into their in-game statistics and demand the “old” scoreboard back:
Update 10:37 PM: Performance is currently a growing topic in the community, at least among PC players. Even with strong hardware, fans have problems maintaining high FPS ranges. One reason for this may be the new, large 128-player modes. If you are also experiencing difficulties, the following solutions may help you:
- set the graphics settings as low as possible
- set DLSS to Performance or Ultra-Performance
- restart the game – especially if the settings are not applied
Even with these options, there are reports that a maximum of 20 FPS more, sometimes not even that, can be achieved this way.
Update 10:07 PM: One of the specialists, Dozer, is already causing problems at launch. There seems to be a bug with his gadget, the SOB-8 shield, which has been disabled. On MeinMMO you can read more about the 10 specialists of Battlefield 2042.
Update 10:00 PM: Discussions about the missing scoreboard are popping up more and more on Reddit. Apparently, players miss the ability to see how well they performed in a round or generally get information. This topic currently dominates the community. Some are even threatening to harm penguins:
Update 9:50 PM: Most players are reportedly able to play without issues and praise Battlefield 2042 for its graphics. However, there are complaints about performance on PC and issues with EA Play and Game Pass. If you’re unable to find the game on Xbox, the following workaround might help:
- Open the Xbox app on your mobile device if it’s linked to your Xbox
- Search for Battlefield 2042
- Select either the trial version or Battlefield 2042 for Xbox One (even for Xbox Series X)
- The game should then appear

Update 9:23 PM: More and more players are starting the game and getting through the tutorial. However, there are also occasional reports of errors on Xbox where the game crashes or even shuts down the console. Are you experiencing issues too?
