The latest leak about Battlefield 2042 is currently attracting the attention of Battlefield fans on Twitter. However, instead of the improvements demanded by players, the leak reveals only more bundles, cosmetic content, and XP boosters, which players view critically.
Why are the XP boosts viewed critically? Battlefield 2042 has been struggling with numerous issues since its release on November 12, 2021. Many players are dissatisfied and hope for improvements for the shooter, for which they have partly paid up to 120 €.
Thousands of players have even signed a petition demanding refunds for Battlefield 2042. With the latest leak, EA DICE must now face the allegations from players that instead of releasing improvements, they are apparently implementing further bundles and XP boosters.
Additional criticism has been directed at the fact that XP boosters are understood as pay-to-win, as players unlock better weapons, attachments, and similar items with level progress in Battlefield 2042. If this leveling progress is faster when paying for it, it grants advantages through real-money investment – which can already be seen as “pay-to-win”.
The developers removed the ability to farm experience points in the portal mode to ensure that no one has an unfair advantage.
How bad is the situation for Battlefield 2042? The player numbers for Battlefield 2042 are devastating. Especially on Steam, genre competitors and even franchise predecessors are performing noticeably better.

What are the players’ reactions? Players are far from happy about the contents of the leak. MeinMMO shows you how the Battlefield community expressed their frustration:
- u/Dirtycoinpurse via Reddit: “Damn, they’re doing microtransactions for the three people still playing. Good for them that they’re also squeezing out the last drop.”
- u/LittleRudiger via Reddit: “Squeezing blood from a stone.”
- @jimmyultra_20 via Twitter: “Because skins and cosmetics are ‘exactly’ what the game ‘needs’ haha.”
- u/username196161916547 via Reddit: “XP boosts? When will companies learn that nobody wants P2W microtransactions?”
- u/StruckBlynde via Reddit: “This will surely bring the players back.”
- u/16032006 via Reddit: “Why would it have microtransactions if no one plays to buy them?”
How reliable is the leak? The Twitter account @temporyal is known in the Battlefield community for its accurate leaks. As a data miner, he pulls his information from non-visible but already implemented files of the game.
However, temporyal always notes in the content he shares that these are unreleased contents based on data mining. He emphasizes that there is no guarantee that the contents of his leaks will make it into the game.
The images from the most recent post are claimed by @temporyal to have been taken from the current version of the game client.
Contrary to the perception that EA DICE is not working on the state of Battlefield 2042, the developer studio recently released an update with, according to its own statement, over 400 bug fixes.
However, the current leak again raises the discussion of whether Battlefield 2042 is even salvageable. The MeinMMO editorial team also recently dealt with the question and discussed the possible salvation of the shooter in the MeinMMO podcast.
