There is still no official date for the beta of Battlefield 2042. But finally, there is a clue as to when it might start. At least, a well-known leaker, Tom Henderson, gives a specific date for the end of September.
When is the beta supposed to start? According to Tom Henderson, the beta for Battlefield 2042 will enter early access on September 22.
From September 24, all other players can also participate in the open beta. While he doesn’t specify the exact duration, it is expected to last about a week, as has usually been the case with previous beta phases for older Battlefield titles.
Is the information reliable? Tom Henderson is considered a well-known insider who has regularly provided reliable information about Battlefield.

Another insider confirms the date
Is the date credible? Henderson can still be regarded as a reliable source of information. This time, he seems very confident about the date.
He writes on his Twitter account: “The beta on September 22 is not speculation or guesswork.” He is as sure about this as he was about the CoD Vanguard leak, where he also turned out to be correct. (via Twitter)
In this case, he is also supported by another well-known insider who confirms the date. Jeff Grubb, who has also published numerous advance details about Battlefield 2042, considers the date credible (via vgc.com).
Previously, a date of September 4 circulated online for a long time, which turned out to be incorrect. This date was circulated by EA itself as it appeared in a blog post about Battlefield 2042, which was modified a few minutes after its release.
Apparently, they internally did not believe in the date and pushed it back further. In the middle of the month, several beta phases for Call Of Duty: Vanguard, the direct competitor of Battlefield 2042, are also taking place. Thus, September 22 remains the logical start date, exactly one month before the release.
Until EA officially confirms the date, you shouldn’t completely rely on it.
Uncertainty about the beta start – Many were wrong with a tip
This is what has happened so far: Officially, Electronic Arts has not yet announced a specific date for the beta. So far, only September has been mentioned as a timeframe.
- Instead of a specific date, it remained September. However, many players, streamers, and media speculated long about September 4 as the start of the early access phase for the beta.
- Just a few days ago, insider Henderson wrote that we would finally get concrete information from EA by September 2. Hence, many expected an announcement and confirmation of September 4.
- Later, Henderson had to correct this information – apparently, he was misinformed by his source. This, in turn, caused further rumors.
On the one hand, disappointed players were upset that they trusted the information. On the other hand, there were growing concerns that Battlefield 2042 might have development issues. After all, there has been no new information about the shooter since July, which is supposed to be released on October 22.

On which platforms will the beta be released? The testing phase will take place on all platforms where Battlefield 2042 is to be released. These are PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
