Battlefield 2042 will apparently finally introduce the brand new mode Hazard Zone. Until now, this has been a big question mark in the community and many fans wanted to know what it’s all about. The development team announces the next important date with a teaser.
This is the teaser: After the rather mixed reception of the Battlefield 2042 beta, a roughly 30-second clip was released today, October 12, 2021, on Twitter and YouTube. It showed various distorted scenes. Accompanying this, three short messages appeared on the screen:
- “Enter the Hazard Zone”
- “Every squad for themselves”
- “Come prepared”
The short teaser refers to an upcoming premiere on YouTube. A new video is scheduled to be released there on Thursday, October 14 at 5:00 PM German time. Whether it will be a trailer or a larger presentation is still unknown.
Already, over 2,000 people are waiting in the premiere on YouTube and the video has already received over 6,300 upvotes, even though there isn’t much to see yet. We have embedded the teaser and the premiere here for you:
Hazard Zone – The new mode of Battlefield 2042
What is Hazard Zone? Not much is known about Hazard Zone so far apart from the name. Allegedly, it is supposed to be a PvE mode with PvP – similar to the Dark Zone from The Division.
A major leak about Hazard Zone, the weapons, and seasons of Battlefield 2042 had already hinted at what it could be about:
- You start at a random point and have to fight your way to the center of the map
- There you are supposed to retrieve data that will be extracted by helicopter
- Along the way, you collect loot and fight against NPCs and other players
Roughly speaking, the gameplay principle resembles Escape From Tarkov, which would also fit with the statements “come prepared” and “every squad for themselves.” Hazard Zone may possibly be something like a Battle Royale – essentially the counterpart to CoD Warzone for Battlefield.
This again would align with fans’ speculations who believe that Battlefield 2042 was originally supposed to be a completely different game. You can find out more in our article about what we already know about Hazard Zone:
When will Battlefield 2042 be released? The release of Battlefield 2042 is now set for November 19, 2021, after a postponement. The new shooter will then be available for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. By that time, you should be able to get your own impression of Hazard Zone.
