The closed alpha test of Battlefield 2042 is well underway. Some players are not taking the required confidentiality seriously and are posting screenshots and videos that are dividing the fanbase.
What happened? From August 12 to August 15, a few thousand selected players have the opportunity to participate in a closed alpha of Battlefield 2042. To ensure that nothing from the unfinished version leaks online, participants had to agree to a non-disclosure agreement (NDA). Nevertheless, many screenshots and minutes-long videos are now surfacing online.
While some Battlefield fans are enthusiastic, others are concerned about the technical state and some design decisions of the shooter.
Battlefield Alpha leak shows new info and problems
This is shown by a streamer: The biggest leak was caused by a Chinese streamer who shared his gameplay live with hundreds of viewers. You can still find recordings of it online (via Streamable). Here you can see a battle on the “rocket launch map”, which is the only one playable in alpha.
The streamer uses various gadgets, including a grappling hook that allows him to swing between buildings like Spiderman. He also presents several weapons, their customization options, and reveals more:
- No more animations for entering and exiting vehicles
- There are different types of ammunition
- There is a call-in system for vehicles
- Player takedowns are shown in third-person.
It stutters and stumbles: On Twitter and Reddit, some users criticize the technical state of Battlefield 2042. In their opinion, it still looks too unfinished for an upcoming release.
