Players in Battlefield 2042 face a difficult choice before each respawn. Numerous tools are available, but each player can only take two of them: the specific gadget of each specialist, and equipment like ammo crates, rocket launchers, or health kits.
A player on Reddit has found a creative solution for this limitation: They place a health kit on a reconnaissance drone. Thus, they have combined two things that have different functions on their own.
The result is a very strong and practical hybrid of a reconnaissance drone and a healing station. Fortunately, the steps for this trick are very easy to follow and replicate.
Reconnaissance Drone Becomes a Flying Health Kit
How does the trick work? For this trick, the reconnaissance drone of spy specialist Casper is repurposed. The player in the clip does the following:
- The player plays as Casper and has selected a health kit as equipment.
- They launch the drone and then immediately ‘park’ it on the ground in front of them.
- The player then exits the drone view.
- They place the health kit on their own drone.
- Casper takes control of the drone again, which now carries the health kit with it.
The reconnaissance drone is now also a flying healing station that can heal all wounded comrades within a radius.
The health kit can heal indefinitely as long as players are in its vicinity. Accordingly, the drone can assist an unlimited number of teammates through this method as long as it is active.
What is this trick good for? This trick is very practical to heal a colleague who is not easily reachable. Especially in areas on a map where there are many high positions, this trick is very helpful.
Especially on the Freight List map, which is also shown in the clip, players are often on individual containers. These are easy for specialist Webster to climb, but someone like Casper cannot easily come to provide support. This trick helps in getting out of a bind even in those positions.
Also practical is that through the trick, the health kit can come to the wounded players instead of luring the players to the kit. Teammates can therefore remain in safety while the healing station heals all affected players while flying by. This way, strong defensive positions can be held better and easier.
Because the reconnaissance drone can still mark enemies, even when used for this healing trick, the endangered teammates receive important information. This can help both you and the team win the fight.
Another Character Can Also Heal from a Distance
Even though this trick is very practical and opens many strategic possibilities: This creative solution is not the only method to heal friends from a distance.
The German specialist Maria Falck is equipped with an S21 syringe gun. This allows her to heal players with ‘friendly fire’ even from a greater distance.
How is the trick better than the specialist? Falck’s syringe gun requires that you have a clear and unobstructed line of sight to a wounded comrade.
Because the syringe gun needs to hit the team member. This also requires more aim than the flying healing drone. Additionally, the ammunition for the gun is limited and must recharge when you have shot it empty.
