Battlefield 2042 has had a very turbulent launch. Some updates caused major issues, but players are still dissatisfied with the quality of the game. Now, leakers say: Future plans could also disappoint fans. MeinMMO tells you more.
A well-known Battlefield leaker has made the community of the game sit up and take notice. The data miner “temporyal” has found information that gives hints about the start of Season 1. A new map, which is supposed to arrive with Season 1, has supposedly been discovered by the leaker in the game files.
Even though this information is purely speculative and not officially confirmed, fans are not pleased. The reason: Season 1 of Battlefield 2042 is supposed to start much later than players expected.
The data miner “temporyal” has allegedly found new information in the data of Battlefield 2042. He shared his findings in a tweet.
Update from December 22, 2021: The leaker has now also posted an image of the supposed new map. It shows an autumnal picture of a mountainous landscape. A river can also be seen. The map is apparently supposed to arrive with Season 1.
Leaks suggest that the start of Season 1 could be in March 2022
What do the latest leaks say? The leaker has allegedly discovered the following information in the data of Battlefield 2042. As with all leaks, this should be taken with caution:
- There are enough weekly missions in the data for 12 weeks. These missions came into the game with Update 3 and are supposed to bridge the time until Season 1.
- A coming map is supposedly named Exposure. This was presumably leaked in the past under the name Ridge.
- This map is supposed to take place in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. The battle is for a weapons research facility discovered after a landslide.
- This map could arrive with Season 1.
Especially the information about the weekly missions is interesting. Planned weekly missions extend for 12 weeks. This suggests that the pre-season is supposed to last a total of 12 weeks.
Thus, the start of Season 1 would be in March 2022. EA has officially stated that Season 1 is supposed to be released in early 2022.
How reliable are the leaks? Like all leaks, this one should also be taken with a lot of caution. Although “temporyal” has been correct with Battlefield information in the past, these data mines are not a secure confirmation of contents and plans.
Moreover, the leaker here interprets a piece of information that was apparently found in the data as an indication for the launch date of Season 1. However, this interpretation could also be wrong.
From EA or DICE we have not yet received any specific information about the contents of the seasons or the battle pass. Everything outside of an official confirmation remains speculation.
Leaked plans may no longer be valid
Another well-known Battlefield leaker, Tom Henderson, has also spoken up. He also expects significantly different future plans for Battlefield 2042.
Tom Henderson, who has published most of the leaks for the future of Battlefield 2042 and the supposed contents of the battle passes, says:
The plans after the launch [of Battlefield 2042] are completely in shambles. So everything I said so far about the post-launch plans before the release of the game… just ignore that.

Which leaks are supposed to no longer be valid? Henderson had previously leaked the following content for each season:
- 1 new specialist
- 2 new maps for All-Out Warfare and Hazard Zone
- 2 new maps for Battlefield Portal
- 1 update for the Hazard Zone
- 6 to 8 new weapons for each mode
- 2 to 3 new vehicles for each mode
Now he says that this information is supposed to no longer be valid. Whether that applies to every listed point is unclear.
The latest leaks from “temporyal” seem to suggest that a new map is still supposed to come with Season 1 of Battlefield 2042. Even though that could possibly only happen in March 2022.
Both leakers therefore suggest that the future plans for Battlefield 2042 have changed significantly. This could also be due to changes in the management of the developers:
