There are issues from all directions: Recently in the headlines were the threat of closure of the subreddit due to toxic behavior, dramatically declining player numbers, and extraordinary reimbursements from Steam to dissatisfied players.
This development has now taken a curious turn. Battlefield 2042 is apparently performing so poorly in two ways that even the cheat providers are no longer interested in the game.
What happened? Journalist Tom Henderson is known for having many insider information about the Battlefield games. He recently shared a curious message from an unspecified Discord server on Twitter. In it, a cheat provider apparently explains the reasons why they are discontinuing their dubious services for Battlefield 2042.
According to the alleged cheat provider, their company will no longer sell cheats for Battlefield 2042. There are 2 reasons that can be inferred from the screenshot in the tweet:
- The ongoing performance issues of the game affect the cheat too strongly. Therefore, it seems to not function as hoped.
- Too many players apparently do not renew their cheat subscriptions because fewer and fewer people are playing Battlefield 2042. In the words of the cheat provider: ‘The game is dying.’
So the game is apparently doing so poorly in 2 ways that even the cheaters have given up on it.
Missing cheaters are curiously a disastrous sign
