When does the open beta start? Next week on Tuesday the preload begins. On Wednesday, the early access phase starts, allowing players to get in 2 days earlier.
Here are the official dates:
- The preload starts on October 5 at 9:00 AM.
- The early access phase starts on October 6 at 9:00 AM and runs until October 7.
- From October 8 at 9:00 AM, all players can participate.
- The beta ends on October 10 at 9:00 AM.
But what exactly can we expect in the beta? EA has not yet released specific details about the scope. However, there is the trailer that reveals some details. We picked out 3 of them for you and will delve deeper.
But first, you can watch the trailer here:
The trailer shows which map you will play on
Which map is available in the beta? Unless another map is announced, the map “Orbital” will be playable in the open beta.
From leaks, we already know that this map was included in the technical alpha of Battlefield 2042. Thus, there is even leaked gameplay, which may not necessarily be representative of the beta.
The map has a rocket silo, and during the trailer, you can see how this rocket launches. But before it can actually lift off, it is destroyed, which looks spectacular:
A tornado is also visible in the trailer. So there will be events during a match that can significantly shake up a round.
On PC and the new consoles, up to 128 players will be on a map. So you can look forward to massive battles.
New Specialist Dozer – What does he bring?
What kind of specialist is this? A clever player on Reddit identified a new specialist in the trailer. The community manager F8RGE has already confirmed that this one has not yet been introduced.
According to his comments, it is Santiago “Dozer” Espinoza. What exactly the new specialist can do, the developers are still keeping under wraps.
A player speculates that he may have some kind of support role, but F8RGE hints in his response that he could be wrong. (via reddit.com)

Which specialists are currently known? So far, four specialists have been introduced:
- Assault – Mobile soldier for the front
- Support – Support unit, also medic
- Engineer – Responsible for heavy equipment
- Recon – Often stays in the background, scouts enemies or hinders them
However, a total of 10 specialists are supposed to be available at launch. What roles the others will take remains to be seen.
Interface and display details
What does this mean? The trailer reveals several gameplay scenes from the game. The HUB and all in-game displays are shown directly.
For instance, you can see numerous elements of the HUD, but also hit markers, assist and kill markers. This gives you an idea of what it will be like when you rush across the maps and enter the battle.
- A kill is confirmed by a white skull.
- An assist is indicated by a white hand.
- Hit markers are red, but not particularly noticeable.
- Overall, the HUD is kept minimalistic and consists of three colors: Blue, Green, and Orange.
When is Battlefield 2042 coming out? The shooter is set to be released on November 19, 2021, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.
However, there will be some differences between the new and old consoles. For instance, on PS4 and Xbox One, a maximum of 64 players will be possible in a match, and the maps are expected to be significantly smaller.
How about you? Will you try the beta? On which platform will you be participating?
