We show you how to unlock and buy the different weapons in Battlefield 1.
In Battlefield 1, you are offered a large selection of different weapons. These vary by class and have different advantages and disadvantages. To find the perfect weapon for you, you need to try out many weapons first. Unlocking these weapons works like in previous Battlefield games, by making progress with the respective class. In this guide, we show you how unlocking the weapons works and how you can buy and use them.
Unlocking Weapons
In Battlefield 1, there are 4 classes: Assault, Scout, Support and Medic. Each of these classes has different weapons to choose from, which are useful for their respective roles. For example, support soldiers have weapons with a high rate of fire to keep enemies at bay. Assault soldiers have many explosive weapons and gadgets available that are well-suited for destroying enemy vehicles. Against infantry, they can even equip shotguns that quickly take down opponents. To unlock the various weapons, you need to reach certain levels with your classes.
The image on the right shows that for the Scout weapon “Martini-Henry,” you need to spend 200 War Bonds and have reached at least level 10 of the Scout class. To gain levels in your respective class, you need to earn experience points. You earn these experience points by participating in battles. Additional experience points are awarded when you fulfill your role’s tasks well. As a support soldier, you should provide your allies with ammunition. As a medic, you get extra points when you heal or revive players. In our Battlefield 1 tips for leveling classes, you can see how else you can increase your class level.
Battlefield 1 – Buying Weapons
In older installments of the Battlefield series, it was possible to use weapons directly after unlocking them. In Battlefield 1, you need to use your in-game currency to equip these weapons in battles. With a one-time purchase for the respective class, you can use the weapons. The in-game currency with which you can buy weapons is called War Bonds. You get these when you level up. For each level-up, you receive War Bonds that you can use to buy weapons. There are price differences among different weapons. The primary weapons cost more than other equipment.
Because primary weapons are relatively expensive, you should think carefully about which weapon you choose. To make this choice easier for you, we have an overview: The best weapons for each class in Battlefield 1. Of course, it always depends on play style which weapon suits you best in the different classes. However, taking a look at the provided overview can help you in your decision.
Once you have decided on a weapon, you can unlock and select it before a battle in the customization mode. To do this, start a multiplayer game and click on “Customize” before entering the battlefield. When you select the corresponding weapon and meet the level requirement for it, you can unlock that weapon.
