In Battlefield 1 there are some differences compared to the previous entries in the series. We will show you what has changed.
Battlefield 1 officially releases on October 21 and comes with some cool features and functions. Compared to the previous Battlefield games, there are several innovations. We will address the most important changes here. These tips are not just for veterans, but also for “new players.”
The unlocking of weapons is level-dependent
The system for unlocking weapons and gadgets in Battlefield 1 works similarly to Battlefield 4. This means you also need to reach a certain rank to gain access to new weapons. However, you cannot use them immediately, but must buy the weapons with in-game currency Warbonds. Warbonds are earned when you reach new character levels.
It is the class ranks with which you unlock weapons, and not your overall level. If you want new weapons for the sniper, you must play with that class and level up to unlock new rifles or gadgets.
Less selection of weapons
Compared to games like Battlefield 4, the current installment has fewer weapons. However, the weapons that are available are varied and have different versions. There are options for better aiming accuracy when shooting from the hip or improvements for distant targets by mounting a scope on the weapon. Therefore, before you buy a new weapon, you should definitely compare the stats of the weapons to ensure that you purchase the right weapon for your playstyle.
LMGs become more accurate the longer you shoot
The light machine guns have a special behavior in Battlefield 1. The accuracy of the weapon increases the longer you shoot it. Therefore, you should not take single shots with these weapons, but play in continuous fire mode to achieve more accuracy. Each time you restart shooting, the accuracy resets. LMGs are used by support players.
The weapons are meant to keep enemies at bay. While they may not be particularly accurate at the beginning, they have a large magazine to keep enemies at bay.
SMGs are weak at range
It makes sense that submachine guns are not designed to kill enemies at great distances. Nevertheless, these weapons were quite strong in some previous games. However, this has changed in Battlefield 1. Here, submachine guns are used for close-range combat. They lose a lot of damage at greater distances and are virtually useless in these situations. Since even single shots with an SMG at greater distances do not show improvement, one should focus on targets in close proximity. If you see an enemy at a greater distance, you should rather switch to your pistol to deal damage.
You can adjust the recoil of a weapon
In shooters, one is used to having a certain recoil when shooting. Especially with automatic weapons, you often have to counteract when the weapon pulls to the left, right, or upwards. In Battlefield 1, the recoil or pull of a weapon is always the same. As a default, a weapon always pulls upwards. Therefore, you need to counteract downwards to work against the recoil. If you want, you can adjust this feature by setting how the recoil behaves.
You have the option between left, right, and center. If you set the recoil to “left”, the weapon will pull more to the left when shooting. This way, you can adjust the game to your specific controller settings, if you have any.
Revives without charging
To revive your teammates, you do not first have to charge a defibrillator for a few seconds. In Battlefield 1, there is a syringe with which you can bring killed teammates back to life. To apply the syringe to a teammate, you need to be in close proximity to them. Although reviving at such a short distance is risky, you can also do the opposite and kill enemies with it.
There is no Engineer class in Battlefield 1
With the revision of the class system, the typical engineer is no longer present. When it comes to weapons, the Assault class comes quite close to the engineer. They can equip shotguns and SMGs, but cannot repair vehicles. The new vehicle class takes care of repairing vehicles.
For armored targets, the Assault class is recommended. Equipped with anti-tank grenades and anti-tank rocket launchers as well as dynamite, you can cause a lot of damage. An anti-tank mine is part of the gear that you can unlock as Assault.
Try the new vehicle class as a Tank Driver or Pilot
If you spawn in a battle as the driver of a vehicle, you belong to the vehicle class. This class comes in 2 variants that are similar. As a Tank Driver, you can equip a primary weapon, a secondary weapon, an anti-tank grenade, and a repair tool. As a Pilot, you have the same primary weapons as the Tank Driver, a different secondary weapon, a flare gun, and a repair tool. You can choose one of 6 weapons as the primary weapon for both Tank Drivers and Pilots.
Although there is the option to repair a vehicle from the inside, this is not always the best solution. During automatic repair, incoming enemy fire interrupts the process. If you repair a vehicle from the outside, incoming shots do not interrupt this process.
The Sweet-Spot with Sniper Rifles
Many of the sniper rifles in Battlefield 1 have what is known as a sweet spot. This means that a weapon is most effective at a certain distance and causes the most damage. This gives you the opportunity to kill an opponent with just one body shot. As a sniper, this is a great advantage.
Finding the sweet spot for the various weapons is not easy and requires a lot of experience. It pays off to shoot frequently with a specific weapon to determine this point.
