The World War online shooter Battlefield 1 is getting a lot of new content with the upcoming Spring Update. This includes the long-awaited Platoons (Clans), nerfed airplanes, new cosmetic items, and weapon variants at rank 10.
Battlefield 1 initially missed out on a lot of content, including the armies of France, Russia, and the Platoon feature. The French army has since come to the game in the “They Shall Not Pass” update, and Platoons will be introduced with the upcoming Spring Update for EA’s online shooter.
Battlefield 1 – Spring Update – How the new Platoons work
Platoons are real-life groups of 16 to 40 soldiers, but in Battlefield 1, they are essentially clans and can consist of up to 100 players. A player can be a member of up to 10 different Platoons, and if a majority of players on one side in a match are from the same Platoon, the unit’s name will change to that of the Platoon. Also cool: If your Platoon captures a flag, the Platoon flag will be raised.
While in a real military a Platoon is usually commanded by a lieutenant, in Battlefield 1 the Platoon commander is actually a general. He then appoints a colonel from the members as his deputy, who has slightly fewer rights. Additionally, there is a lieutenant as a mini-clan officer, who has only slightly more rights than a regular soldier. You can also play your Battlefield 1 Platoons in Battlefield 4.
Battlefield 1 – Spring Update – Nerfed flyers, more effective medics, and additional weapons
In addition to the Platoons as a major feature, a few more useful contents are coming to EA’s online shooter:
- Airplanes will be nerfed and made easier to combat from the ground
- Medics can now announce that they are helping an injured player
- Private servers with password protection will be added
- Four new variants of the level-10 weapons: Hellriegel 1915 Defensive, Selbstlader 1906 (sniper version), Huot MG (Automatic Optical), and Martini Henry (sniper version)
- 19 new ribbon badges for battlefield achievements
- 5 new dog tag designs, including a German beer mug. Cheers!
