Status Update
Only one question remains: How is the game currently doing in the shooter community?
Developer DICE provides us with more and more content in the monthly updates; for example, this year, two night maps were released. What I find annoying is that the maps are only available to premium pass holders.
Although there was a “premium trials” event where we could try the maps, I would have personally preferred if the maps were freely available for everyone.
This year, the expansion “They Shall Not Pass” was also released, which came with new weapons, soldiers, and four additional maps.
The second expansion “In the Name of the Tsar” will be released in September and gives you more weapons, maps, and the Russian army will also join the shooter. What I find positive is that developer DICE is genuinely working hard, rolling out update after update to continuously improve Battlefield 1.
Conclusion: Is Battlefield 1 Worth It?
Now I come to the conclusion regarding whether the game is still worth it, and I can say quite clearly – YES. Battlefield 1 offers me exactly what I want, and I can enjoy multiplayer chaos with up to 64 other players.
Also, the setting in World War I gives a fresh wind to the genre and lures some veterans out of their caves. I still have fun with Battlefield 1 even after more than 150 hours of playtime, and in that time, I have only tried half of all available weapons. Moreover, the game keeps evolving, and the developers provide a lot of content.
Although the campaign did not excite me much, Battlefield is a classic multiplayer title and should be treated as such.
The only thing that still bothers me a bit about the game is the lack of options for server owners, so not many servers are rented, and I find myself on “official” servers most of the time. Here, DICE needs to provide more customization options for renters in the future to make server purchases worthwhile.
However, I can definitely recommend Battlefield 1 to shooter fans. Those who want to get the most out of the game should keep an eye out for the premium pass.
