Modes, Modes, and More Modes
Battlefield has always been known for offering a wide range of options to as many players as possible with various modes. Here, in addition to the classic modes, there are a few new features like the Operations, but more on that later.
In Conquest, we fight on a large map with up to 64 players, aiming to capture and hold as many flags as possible.
In Rush, on the other hand, you destroy so-called telegraphs and can advance further on the map. Team Deathmatch is also present for some small skirmishes. New are the so-called Operations, where you need to capture sectors on the maps and charge towards the enemy. This mode is cohesive and offers everything a gamer’s heart desires.
The Maps: Beautiful, but Sometimes Too Open
The maps in Battlefield 1 are beautifully varied and invite exploration. Some of these maps, like Sinai Desert, feel a bit too open and especially sprawling. In the older parts of the series, there were always these so-called choke points where players would gather and fight.
Fans still remember the map “Operation Metro” from BF3, where you would collect tons of points just for reviving or supplying ammunition. I miss these choke points a bit in Battlefield 1, even if others are glad about it.
Here, danger can lurk around every corner, and you always need to be alert for enemies.
But let’s focus on the positive aspects: Man, the maps look damn good! Whether you are playing in a dense forest or a rainy city, there’s something for everyone. I was particularly impressed by the map “Argonne Forest“, which is a pure feast for infantry players. Here, in some corners, you can find my desired choke points where you can farm tons of points.
