Unlocking weapons in Battlefield 1
Currently, unlocking the weapons is a bit problematic. Ideally, weapons should be able to be unlocked in the game, but that is not currently functioning. As an alternative, you can do this via the Companion app or on the official Battlefield website under “Career” . Select your class and choose between the available unlocks. You pay for new equipment with Warbonds that you earn by leveling up your character.
Locations of the elite classes and how to use them
In Battlefield 1 there are 3 elite classes: The Sentry, the Tank Hunter, and the Flamethrower. We already reported on the different elite classes and their special features.
- The Sentry is located near the F capture point. The spawn point will be marked on your map. Equipped with a powerful MG, he has a lot of firepower. One of his weaknesses is that he cannot equip a gas mask.
- The Tank Hunter is located near the E capture point. Although he can defeat lighter vehicles and infantry with his anti-tank weapon, he shows his true strength against heavily armored targets at long distances. You can only use the weapon from cover or when it is on the bipod.
- The Flamethrower can be found near the B capture point, not far from a partially destroyed building. Equipped with a flamethrower, he is quite strong, but the gas mask severely limits his field of vision.
Only one elite class can be activated at a time. Keep in mind that these classes are only really strong if you can handle them well. Otherwise, a swift death is inevitable.
Choosing the right airplane
In the open beta of Battlefield 1, there are currently 3 different types of airplanes. The Attack Plane, the Fighter, and the Bomber. The Fighter is the lightest and fastest variant of the airplanes – however, the Fighter does not withstand much damage. If you play the fighter with the “Bomber Killer” feature, you can have a lot of fun with the aircraft. “Bomber Killer” allows you to fire rockets that you can steer yourself. Due to the large hitbox upon impact, you can deal a lot of damage.
Using gas grenades against snipers
If you are near an enemy sniper, you should consider using the gas grenade option. If you throw a gas grenade at a sniper, he is forced to take action against it.
Either he leaves his position and is vulnerable during movement, or he has to put on his gas mask. Since the gas mask severely restricts the shooter’s visibility, you can approach him more easily and kill him.
Fighting soldiers on horseback
Horses play a significant role in Battlefield 1. The developers programmed the horses to behave in a particularly realistic manner and have their own character . In battles, you often see soldiers traveling on horses. When fighting against them, you should focus on the soldier and not on the horse.
The animals have significantly more health points than the riders and are therefore hard to kill. Even if the rider wears strong armor, you should focus on him and not on the horse.
Use artillery strikes in Rush mode
In Rush mode, defenders must defend telegraph poles. The attackers try to reach the poles and attach an explosive charge to them in order to destroy them. As a defender, it is important to request artillery support in the game. However, you cannot aim these strikes precisely. You call for an attack, and then the game decides where the strike will occur.
As attackers, keep in mind that your job is not finished after you attach the explosives. If you do not protect the charges, they can be defused by the defenders. So keep an eye on them!
Don’t run away right after taking a point!
For Battlefield veterans, this tip probably isn’t new. After taking a point in the game, you shouldn’t just run away and try to capture the next one. A new capture point often provides rewards for the team that has taken it.
