In the Apocalypse DLC of Battlefield 1, you can unlock a broken wine bottle as a melee weapon.
The last DLC for Battlefield 1 has been available for early access for players with a Premium Pass or Revolution Edition for a few days now. Starting March 6, the Apocalypse DLC will be available for regular purchase.
The expansion brings new maps, a game mode, and new weapons to Battlefield 1. However, one of the melee weapons is hidden. You won’t initially find the broken wine bottle in the loadout overview. We will show you how to unlock it anyway.
Broken bottle as a melee weapon
On the new maps of the Apocalypse DLC for Battlefield 1, you will find wine bottles. They are not just there for decoration, but are necessary to unlock the broken wine bottle as a melee weapon.
You initially won’t find the broken wine bottle among the customization options for the various classes. To unlock it, you must personally complete an event where you achieve 5 kills with whole wine bottles. YouTuber Westie has dealt with the wine bottles and explains how to do it.
Start the quest for the bottle
To start the quest to unlock the broken bottle, you first need to find a whole wine bottle. These are placed on the three new maps of the Apocalypse DLC. They are Passendale, Caporetto, and Somme.
You pick up these whole wine bottles with a hotkey and can subsequently use them as a weapon.
Locations of the wine bottles – Caporetto, Somme, and Passendale
Many bottles are hidden on the maps. In the overview, we show you those that are easy to find.
Caporetto – 4 locations
- At the end of the bridge near the C flag
- Near the flagpole at point D
- On the edge of the statue at the B spot
- Behind point B between the bank and the gramophone
Somme – 3 locations
- At point B on the floor in the windmill
- In the house at point C
- Behind the mill at point E
Passendale – 3 locations, many bottles
- 5 bottles can be found in the bunker at spot B
- 3 on the green crate, 2 on the wooden crate
- In the destroyed bunker, just before you leave the combat area between points D and E
- In an open trench bunker, near the E flag, you will find another bottle
Kills with wine bottles
If you now pick up one of these wine bottles, it will immediately become your primary weapon. If you switch weapons or use the bottle, it will disappear afterwards. While carrying the bottle, you can throw grenades and set up medkits and ammo boxes.
If you picked up a bottle, it will not respawn during this round.
You need to get five kills with these whole bottles to unlock the broken wine bottle as a melee weapon for yourself.
Summary
- You start the quest for the wine bottle as a melee weapon by yourself.
- It will not be shown to you, but it runs in the background.
- For the quest, you make kills with whole wine bottles that you find at the locations shown above on the new maps.
- If you pick up a bottle, it occupies your loadout. If you switch to another weapon after picking up the bottle, the bottle will disappear.
- So: pick up the bottle and then kill someone with it.
- The kills do not have to be made during one match.
- If you achieve five kills with whole wine bottles, the broken wine bottle will be unlocked as a melee weapon for you.
