In the shooter Battlefield 1, ten new details are known that will influence gameplay.
Since the strong appearance at E3 2016, Battlefield 1 has been considered one of the most promising titles of the year. Currently, an alpha testing phase is underway, which is accessible only to very few users.
The YouTuber and Battlefield expert Westie is among the lucky ones who were able to extensively test an early version of the shooter. In a video sponsored by EA, he presents 10 gameplay details that are quite exciting.
Thus, he clears up some ambiguities and false reports that were circulating after E3.
10 Gameplay Details for Battlefield 1
The following are the aspects mentioned in the video:
- Battlefield 1 will support “High Tick Rate Servers” at release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The servers for the PC version will run at least at 60Hz. This allows for a smooth and fair gaming experience in multiplayer, as the servers can deliver events to your screen more quickly.
- Tank takedowns are not possible in multiplayer. Although this has been read on various sites in recent days, DICE has confirmed that this feature will not be implemented. “Tank takedowns” refer to actions where a single soldier can incapacitate a tank, for example by climbing onto the tank and throwing a grenade inside.

- The “recoil effects” from Battlefield 4 will not return. This means that the recoil will be animated more heavily than it actually impacts the gameplay. All recoil effects in Battlefield 1 will depend directly on the gameplay. There is no “extra recoil” to make it look more action-packed. What you see on the screen in Battlefield 1 is what counts.
- In Battlefield 1, bombers and fighter planes can drop bombs. There are two types: “heavy bombs” that explode on impact and “smaller bombs” that explode on the ground with a slight delay – similar to grenades. The fighter planes only carry the smaller “timed explosive bombs.” There are rumors that all bombs explode with a delay. However, this is not the case.
- The weather affects your visibility. During rain and fog, you can move stealthily across the battlefield. Especially snipers will have problems in bad weather.

- Battlefield 1 will have 3D spotting. You must aim at and actively mark enemies for them to be marked.
- Passive marking will not be available in Battlefield 1.
- There are no weapons that can be utilized by multiple classes. Each class has its own arsenal of weapons.
- In BF1, there will be parachutes.
- You cannot block melee attacks. Whoever initiates melee first will win the duel.
