Battleborn stolidly marches on, and despite low player numbers, a cool new game mode called “Face Off” is coming soon. In it, we take down nasty Varelsi creatures while also beating the enemy player team for the right to rack up the most kills.
Anyone who saw the second part of the Lord of the Rings trilogy back in the day will surely remember the legendary kill contest between Legolas and Gimli. The Elf and the Dwarf slashed through hordes of Orcs to crown the best butcher in the end. A spectacle like that is what we can expect soon in Battleborn!
Kill-Stealing as an Art Form!
However, in the wacky hero shooter Battleborn, things are much rougher than in the well-mannered fantasy world of J.R.R. Tolkien. Whole teams of five players each fight against each other for the right to take down the most Varelsi enemies. These poor interdimensional invaders spawn at six different points on the three Conquest maps “Temples”, “Snowblind”, and “Outback”. When we take out the poor Varelsi, they leave behind masks that we must haul to a depot in the center of the map. The first team to collect 500 masks wins.
Unfortunately, the enemy team has the same plan, so we can expect tough fights in the center regularly. Particularly nasty: those with a lot of masks are prime targets for the enemy, because when the mask collector dies, they leave a portion of their loot for any other player passing by. Our team must, therefore, protect our mask gatherers and try to steal the enemy’s masks.
As if that weren’t enough, the Varelsi don’t simply want to be gobbled up as trophies for the vanity of Battleborn players. Hence, enemies get stronger the further players level up. In the end, even real bosses are supposed to appear who can easily wipe out careless players. The update with the new game mode Face Off is set to be released on October 13, along with the new story episode “Attikus and the Thrall Rebellion”.
