Battleborn presents you the game mode “Incursion”, which might feel familiar to MOBA veterans.
How about a bit of MOBA?
It won’t be long until the hero shooter Battleborn is released on May 4, 2016. Gearbox is steadily releasing new material to excite fans and attract undecided players. In the latest video from the developers, the multiplayer mode “Incursion” is introduced, which may remind most of traditional MOBAs.
Each team consists of 8 players (4 per team) competing against each other, needing to protect their own minions while they march down multiple paths (Yep… “Lanes”) towards the opposing Sentry robots. Rather untraditionally, players also have the additional ability to build turrets at various points on the map, which can trigger different effects.
Some of these just deal damage to anything that walks into their sights – whether it’s an enemy minion or a Battleborn. Other turrets heal allies in the vicinity or grant increased movement speed. These turrets cannot be built endlessly; they cost crystals that must be collected on the map first.
If that isn’t enough firepower, you can also recruit mercenary camps, which is strongly reminiscent of “Heroes of the Storm”. The corresponding mercenaries must first be defeated, and a control point must be captured for the powerful minions to fight for your team. This encourages making a last-minute claim against the opposing team for a mercenary camp.
A match in “Incursion” lasts a maximum of 30 minutes – then the team that has suffered the least loss to their Sentrys automatically wins. Otherwise, the faction that has taken out all opposing Sentrys wins.
