The hero shooter Battleborn is currently selling better than Borderlands did in 2009.
The shooter Battleborn, developed by Gearbox Software, appears to have made a solid start. According to Creative Director Randy Varnell, the “early sales” are above those of the first Borderlands from 2009. For the future of Battleborn, Varnell is therefore “cautiously optimistic“.
According to the Creative Director, Borderlands was an extremely successful game for the development studio: nearly 7.8 million units of Borderlands 1 were sold.
After a “decent, solid launch” of Battleborn, user numbers are continuously increasing across all three platforms. Now, Varnell hopes that this growth will continue.
2K Games has not yet released official sales numbers for Battleborn. For reference: Borderlands from 2009 sold 2 million copies in its first two months.
The hero shooter can already celebrate a sales success: Battleborn was at the top of the sales charts in the UK in the first week after launch – however, Battleborn was also the only new release that week.
