The battle royale mode for Battlefield V is not being developed by DICE itself, but by another studio. This was recently revealed by an EA employee.
During the EA press conference at E3 2018, a battle royale mode for Battlefield 5 was confirmed. This mode is said to have its own charm and will be called “Royale.” However, it will not be available at the release of Battlefield 5. A specific date is still pending.

In a thread of the Battlefront 2 sub-Reddit that discussed how developers from Battlefront 2 were reassigned to work on the battle royale mode for Battlefield 5, he said: “Royale is being developed by another studio, not DICE.” Walke did not specify which studio it is.
Fans are now speculating whether this also excludes the involvement of the LA division of DICE, which is often responsible for post-launch support and the development of Battlefield addons. This would suggest that DICE may have completely outsourced the development of Royale.
