Although Batman, unlike most members of the Justice League, does not possess superpowers, he is one of the most dangerous members of the group. This is not only due to his wealth but also his intelligence. However, this is not always good for his colleagues.
Batman has a plan for almost everything. This is one of his greatest strengths. Even against powerful alien invasions, he comes up with something. Although he relies on teamwork with the Justice League, he also wants to be prepared in case someone turns evil.
Since his colleagues are among the strongest beings on Earth, he has prepared an emergency plan for nearly each one to defeat them. Batman takes a more brutal approach than some villains.
Even in Batman v Superman, he confronts a powerful alien:
A brutal plan for every comrade
What are Batman’s contingency plans? The mere idea of having a contingency plan for each of his friends is insidious, as he has been able to gather a lot of information. Nevertheless, Batman has made preparations to defeat members of the Justice League in case they would switch sides. His contingency protocol is designed to allow him or any of his other Bat-Family members to take down the superheroes.
Diverse ideas are utilized by Batman in the Injustice series, but the worst case occurred in 2000 in JLA: Tower of Babel. The villain Ra’s al Ghul stole Batman’s plans and attacked the Justice League with the plans so that he could execute his own scheme.
Batman often resorts to insidious methods in his planning that would make even well-known supervillains look old. In another story, he uses other plans; however, in this article, we will focus on his strategies from Tower of Babel (via cbr.com), but we will also mention other methods.
- To defeat Superman, Batman created an artificial red Kryptonite. This causes Kryptonians to be overloaded with solar energy, their bodies cannot withstand it, rendering them unable to act. It also causes immense pain due to sensory overload.
- Other plans involve magic, nuclear weapons, electricity, or exploiting his love for Lois Lane.
- For Wonder Woman, Batman relies on virtual reality. Wonder Woman does not give up in a fight; that is one of her mantras. Batman fools her with a virtual program that creates an opponent equal to her, exhausting her.
- One of the nastiest fates Batman has devised for Aquaman. Through Scarecrow’s fear gas, Batman would induce hydrophobia, the fear of water. Since Aquaman needs water to survive, this would eventually kill him.
- Another plan would be to imprison him and completely dehydrate him.
- The most brutal fate awaits Flash in Batman’s plans. He would shoot Flash with a vibrating bullet, which he would not be able to remove due to the vibration. Batman would shoot the bullet into his spine, causing countless seizures for the Flash.
- Other plans might include using magic or freezing.
- To trick Green Lantern, he would hypnotize him in his sleep and make him believe he is blind. The ring would trigger this upon wearing it, and without his sight, he would be unable to create objects with the ring.
- Other plans include Scarecrow’s fear gas or Batman using the yellow ring of the lanterns.
- Even with Martian Manhunter, Batman is not gentle. His greatest weakness is fire. Batman would coat his skin with magnesium, which ignites upon contact with air. This would incapacitate the Martian Manhunter.
- Plastic Man does not fare well either in Batman’s plan. Through his ability to manipulate his molecular structure, Batman would freeze him with liquid nitrogen and then shatter him. While this would not kill him, it would put him in a traumatic situation.
In Tower of Babel, Batman is also tested by Ra’s al Ghul. He offers to resurrect his parents. But Batman resists. Due to the events with Ra’s, the Justice League’s trust in Batman is shattered, and in a vote, it is narrowly decided that Batman must leave the group.
In such stories, one might question why Batman risks his comrades dying, but prefers to save many villains rather than let them perish. But it is not just Batman who is ruthless. The readers are also not exactly gentle when it comes to certain characters: A tragic hero from the Batman universe exists only because readers voted to get rid of him
